ReInvigorate Web Statistics is Google on Roids

A few weeks back I was introduced to ReInvigorate web statistics, a (currently) free service for tracking website metrics. I’ve used most of the major web statistics tools including Google Analytics, Urchin, WebTrends and ClickTracks, but ReInvigorate is different. What strikes you at first when using the system is the simplicity of the interface and the organization of content. The overall system is presented in a clean and logical layout and it’s impossible not to notice the “Web 2.0″ look of the site.

Thoughts on 37Signals, Basecamp and Flexible Software

I love 37Signals and the products they produce, I have tremendous respect for what they’ve been able to accomplish with such a small team of people. Imulus is a big user of BaseCamp and our clients for the most part are happy with it. I say “most part” because lately I’m finding our customers are getting turned off by various features or lack of features and I have no way to modify the BaseCamp code to satisfy those customers. 37Signals has made it pretty clear that they aren’t interested in pleasing everyone. I applaud them for taking a stand and only going after people who fit their product; letting the rest of their users, like us, to move on. (more…)

TechStars: High-Tech Start-up Incubation

TechStars is a new summer event in Boulder sponsored by a collective of Colorado-based entrepreneurs and area companies. The event selects 10 technology / software companies to incubate and guide during the summer months. Each company will receive $15,000 in start-up money to get their idea moving along. They will also receive mentoring from other successful business owners and directors. Each participating company agrees to hand over a 5% share of the business to TechStars. At the end of the summer one company will be selected to present to a group of investors for the chance to receive more investment money.

Archiving By Date in Mail.app

I’m as much of an Apple fanboy as anyone; however I was pretty upset to learn I couldn’t easily search my Mail.app emails by date. I wanted to backup and delete all messsages pre-January 1st, 2006. In Outlook, I would have been able to enter a date range to search, displayed all my results and then delete the messages. Not so in Apple Mail.

I have almost 5 GBs of saved email and enough is enough. I recently purchased MailSteward to help me backup all my emails. The MailSteward software worked great, yet I still needed to delete the old messages in Mail.app. There is no filter, rule or tagging method which worked well but I finally found the answer.

I did a search on all mail sent to me. Given the fact that no message will be in my inbox unless it came to my email address, I figured this would work. Once Mail returned the results, I sorted by date and deleted over 3 GB of old emails.

I still wish I could search by date though.
